Welcome!

November 17, 2009 in Blog by admin

For more than a decade, I have envisioned a place of belonging, where we can share knowledge, stories and expertise. A space where we can talk, trade, partner and barter within our own local context, with maximum flexibility and no barriers to entry. For more than a decade, I have looked and not found.

No existing solution has ever come close to what I have needed for myself and my fellow entrepreneurs.

I decided to create one for us! And here it is.

A labour of love, supported by hundreds of open source engineers all over the world. A peer to peer platform for local entrepreneurs, artists and freelancers; free to join, easy to access, simple to operate, fun to explore and conducive to achievement.

It’s at its very early stage. It’s built on a powerful foundation and with much consciousness. It’s inspired by true stories. Your story.

You are invited to make it work for YOU, by connecting to other local entrepreneurs and by providing feedback. So, please connect up and unleash the flow of creativity by building communities that are relevant to you.

I am honoured to have your attention at this crucial stage of development and also ask for your patience, as we organically build and grow our trust based communities.

So, stay with me here and let us amaze ourselves by the the power of us!

You can sign up right here and enter a new world; ready to be built from the ground up and waiting to happen.

I look forward to seeing you here often.

Magic Happens When We Connect

November 15, 2009 in Blog by admin

Cyrka’s Business Club is an essential part of Cyrka’s Local Ecosystem . It was born to honor the spirit of entrepreneurship and collaboration among small and micro businesses. It is here to help us get to know each other, as we engage in daily interaction and transactions. It offers us a platform for partnership, marketing and promotion, as well as opportunities to create strong networks and economic hubs.

This is how it works:

1) First you sign up . You are welcome to join if you are a Vancouver based business of any size including small office home offices, free-lancers, consultants, artists, etc. It’s free.

2) You then learn about other entrepreneurs here and begin connecting, communicating and collaborating with them.

3) You can then build communities around yourself by creating groups that are relevant to YOU. Invite people to join your group/community and start sharing ideas, products and services. Of course, you can join existing groups as well.

4) Enjoy an uninterrupted, two way interaction with the people and groups of your choice all at your own pace.

You will see how easily you can create and build your own social capital as you continue using this platform. This is just the beginning. We will be introducing new and innovative tools as we move forward together with YOU. New and innovative tools for building connected communities from the ground up.

Remember, although some of these tools are fabulously powerful, it is YOU who creates the magic. So, go ahead. Start building trust based communities and harness the power of the collective for your own benefit as well as everyone else around you.

From here, sky is the limit! See you soon. See you often :)

Markets Are Conversation

The Cluetrain Manifesto

The first markets were markets. Not bulls, bears, or invisible hands. Not battlefields, targets, or arenas. Not demographics, eyeballs, or seats. Most of all, not consumers.

The first markets were filled with people, not abstractions or statistical aggregates; they were the places where supply met demand with a firm handshake. Buyers and sellers looked each other in the eye, met, and connected. The first markets were places for exchange, where people came to buy what others had to sell — and to talk.

The first markets were filled with talk. Some of it was about goods and products. Some of it was news, opinion, and gossip. Little of it mattered to everyone; all of it engaged someone.

Market leaders were men and women whose hands were worn by the work they did. Their work was their life, and their brands were the names they were known by: Miller, Weaver, Hunter, Skinner, Farmer, Brewer, Fisher, Shoemaker, Smith.

For thousands of years, we knew exactly what markets were: conversations between people who sought out others who shared the same interests. Buyers had as much to say as sellers. They spoke directly to each other without the filter of media, the artifice of positioning statements, the arrogance of advertising, or the shading of public relations.

These were the kinds of conversations people have been having since they started to talk. Social. Based on intersecting interests. Open to many resolutions. Essentially unpredictable. Spoken from the center of the self. “Markets were conversations” doesn’t mean “markets were noisy.” It means markets were places where people met to see and talk about each other’s work.

Conversation is a profound act of humanity. So once were markets.
